Education

Since our inception we have included wine education as part of our mission. Wine can be an intimidating subject - so we like the challenge of breaking it down and simplifying it a bit.

In each class we focus on a particular varietal or a particular region. We taste wines - paying close attention to aroma, flavor, and mouth feel. Wines are selected from representative growing regions and we start to develop a sense of place for each wine.

To open up the 2012 schedule :

• January 27 th - we'll taste the wines of Bordeaux and a few Meritage blends from the neighborhood.
• February 24th - we'll explore some of the Spanish wines (and tapas!)
• March 23rd - New Zealand- spring seems a good time for Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir

Topics are generally decided by concensus - join in the fun and voice your choice for the next class. Cost per person is $20 for each class; seating is limited. Call 315-294-5643 to reserve your seat today!

Special Introductory Classes in February - Sensory Perception of Wine

Sunday February 19th 4 p.m. OR
Wednesday February 22nd 4 p.m.

Class includes a short lecture on sensory perception, an opportunity to see how well you identify aroma, and of course you will taste some of the many wines that are produced in the Finger Lakes.  We also include a few examples of wine and food pairing. 

Classes are open to the public - cost is $20 per person.  Teachers with VIT passes receive a 50% discount for the class fee. Please call 315-294-5643 to reserve your seat! Space is limited.
